A Beef from a different Breed |
|
Music has always been DJ Beef’s passion since childhood. For him, being a dj started at The Duck and Bull Pub at Knockando Men’s residence in Parktown (JHB) where he resided whilst a student at UNISA and Boston City Campus-Orange Groove (1997-1999). He started by mixing cassette tapes and cds. Occasional visits to House Afrika Records and seeing djs mixing made him more determined to be a professional dj. With the mentorship and assistance of one of Limpopo’s best Djs (Dj Problem Child now known as El Problemo), Dj Beef’s skills were polished to turn him into a professional.
His first professional booking was in April 2000 at Waterland-Polokwane by the late Mr Ryt (William Mogale) of Kleva Entertainment. It was not a surprise that he joined them in 2001 as their dj which opened doors for the then 22 year old young man from Seshego, a township in Polokwane (Limpopo).With his style and skills on the decks he impressed a lot of people which also saw him become a resident dj at the then Carolux nite Club (Plk) and ultimately a brand in Limpopo. In 2003, he formed his own company called Beef Productions which was later registered as Beef Entertainment (pty) ltd.
This company was formed to be an events managing, sound and stage hire, function equipment hire, video, screens and artists/djs management Service Company. Dj Beef is a dj for the people with specialty in clubs, weddings, private functions, corporate functions, festivals, promotions, Golf days and launches etc. With eleven years as a professional dj, Dj Beef has played in Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe and major cities in the country. This includes clubs such as Ekhayeni (Bloemfontein), Shoosh and Bar 9(Midrand), 115 (Jhb), Co.Fi (Plk & Hatfield-Pta), Cappello (State Theatre-Pta) to name a few.
He has mentored a lot of djs from the province of Limpopo. These include djs such as Willards, Eephy, Cappuccino, Miz K and Brigga, to name a few. All of them are products of the then Dj School and store Royale Records-Plk (owned by Dj Beef). He has been a mix DJ at Thobela fm, ML fm, Phalaphala fm, YFM, Metro fm and recently Capricorn fm.

> Reached the quarter final stage of the National Heineken DJs search in 2004. > Has been featured in profiled events such as Trade and Investment Limpopo’s State of the province address 2009-2012, Mapungubwe Festival (2006,2008,2011), Marula Festival 2009-2012, Julius Malema’s Annual People’s festival (2010,2011), Bhoza’s Rise Limpopo (2009-2011) Vetkuk & Mahoota’s Spring fest (2010,2011), Fifa World Cup 2010-Polokwane fan Park, Hansa Nite of the Stars (2002, 2003) to name a few. > Has been featured alongside top national and international Djs such as Rocco, Christos, Louie Vega, Fresh, Ralf Gum, Low Deep T, Spiritchaser, Vinny Da Vinci, Glen Lewis, Ganyani, T-Bose, Oskido and many more. |
